Windstorm: Unbroken Circle
Azrael (Take Me Home)
V1
Between the day and night
The darkest hour the lightest light
Azrael waits unheard, unknown, unseen
As journeys end draws near
And cherished kinships gather there
Azrael doesn’t reach, waits for a word
Wings folded like a bird held closely to her chest
Standing patiently in vigil, waiting for that sweet request
Chorus
Please take me home, oh take me home, take me home, take me home
Wrap your gentle wings around me as we leave
To carry me back home, carry me back home now
Verse two
Once born, the futures cast
Many will be touched on the spirit’s path
Each life a sacred book that we must close
Legacy is big and small
A child, a smile, a text, a call
Every rose destined to whither if it is to bloom
Wings folded like a bird held closely to her chest
Stands patiently in her vigil, waiting for that sweet request
Bridge
farewell my friend
Goodbye my love
That which I’ve wrought I leave with you to revere
My gratitude for all you’ve given me I will hold dear
Last Line: Carry Me Back Home

Country
V1
Jimmy sat on his tailgate, peering out across majestic plains
Took a whiff and thought, there’s lightning coming, I think it’s going to rain
A coolness hastened a strong breeze; he said a storm is coming near.
I love the way this land just talks to me
If you listen, she's always there
Chorus
'Cause its country, Oh it's country, Oh its country music in its purest form
Oh It’s country, Oh its country, oh its country music. We just play along.
V2
Shelley and Johnny on the Eastern shore, drove up to the Chesapeake Bay
I can smell the mud flats, she said, the tide is low I’d say
A west wind blows, water lapping the shore, as the tide it starts to rise
I love the way this land talks to me as the bay sings it’s reprise
V3
Sitting on a stump in the pasture and the morning, sky is red
In The cool moist air, my nostrils flare. I think there’s snow ahead.
I round the horses to the barn, nature’s palate I admire.
I love the way this land talks to me, I grab some wood to make a fire
Bridge
I hear the wind and the water and the hoofbeats running together
Hear the howling in the distance, and the leaves flapping in the weather
And the smell and moon and sunshine make a sensory cacophony
That’s been playing long before us, it's a timeless symphony

Daybreak
V1
A blinding yellow light streaks across the ocean
And rises up bringing color to the streets
Children protest the rise for class, coffee pots sing and cars get gas
And the rhythm of life heading westward doesn’t miss a beat
Chorus
I will rise each day with the wonder of a child as fresh as the sun
I will leave my dreams to await my advent when moonlight makes me whole
I will lay me down at the close of day satisfied my task is done
I will lay me down on the banks of the river let the waters wash my soul
V2
Sunlight lifts across the wide open plains
Nighttime's chill retreats and warmth spreads across the land
I can hear the roosters singing, valleys echo with church bells ringing,
Smell of breakfast cooking marks another day at hand
V3
Daybreak immerses souls in daily toil
Consumed by tasks barely noticing the journey of the sun
Familys gather at the table sharing food and tales of the new day
As the setting sun paints a colorful finale as it rests until the dawn
Bridge
I will lay me down in the river of my dreams
I will lay me down in the river, river of life
May this glorious rest swaddle me until …
Morning, Morning, morning
Last Chorus: I will lay X3 , I will lay me down

Rain (Spirits Come Home)
V1
I look out the window through the rain splattered pane
The bare trees form a web within the mist
In a lightning flash, I see a rider in the distance
Or maybe it’s in my mind and doesn’t exist
I miss you; I miss you, I long to simply hold you
I pray to God that was you coming home
I love you; I love you, Through eyes I can’t even see you
Though in my mind that was you coming home
Chorus
When I am with you, I have one word for that, it’s home
Time with you is time at home my friend
There isn’t a mountain that I wouldn’t climb
To see you, to be with you my friend
V2
I look out the window, the snow is all gone
The firstborn plants are starting to show their green
why can’t I see you approaching the house
I feel your presence, but you remain unseen
I miss you I miss you I simply long to hold you
when flowers bloom you should be on your way
I love you; I love you; will I ever see you again
My beckoning heart is calling you every day
Bridge
I have been blessed with heartache, because the greatest heart ache comes from the greatest love
Love with such power is a grace bestowed, a one in a million miracle from above
I hoped the dream would last forever, but dreams in our lifetime must succumb to sleep
Spirits come home together, Spirits come home, spirits come home , Spirits come home to keep
V3
I look out the window through the lush green of trees
Green pasture, cloudless azure as far as I see
In a distance a rider approaches the house
In my shock I realize it’s me, the rider is me
I miss you; I miss you, I’m coming home to be with you
I knew that someday I would be together it’s true
I love you; I love you, I knew this story can have no end
In the blink of an eye, we are together my friend

Weekend
V1
Fish are jumpin’ in the river
And the fireflies look like stars as they sparkle in the field
All clocked out at 5 pm, park the trucks by the river again
And celebrate the bliss of summertime
Chorus
Hey everybody, it’s the weekend
Saturday night is coming like a freight train down a hill
Tomorrow morning, we may have to sleep in
But tonight, I’ll hold you tight near by
As we watch the bonfire reaching towards the sky
V2
Jimmy brought speakers on his flatbed
And Sally’s got a playlist that will give the scene a spark
The coolers on the ground with the longnecks chillin down
And the firewood is stacked up waiting to chase the dark
Bridge
There is nothing finer than the good ‘ole summertime x4
They are the memories that last forever
Summer love, summer bliss, summertime
V3
Tell a story, fact or fiction
Sing a song your eyes a glowing as they reflect fire light
We won’t have this night again, Sit with me my special friend
Young and wild, carefree summer nights

Parents
V1
They seem to like gods to a four-year-old
They were big and smart and right
And they taught me life despite my fits and turns, protest and fights
In my darkness they were a light, though I tested them till they were overwhelmed
Still, they loved me without question, they were always there at the helm
Chorus
It’s hard to be a parent, it’s hard to be a parent, I didn’t know that then
It’s hard to be a parent, it’s hard to be a parent, I learned that time and time and time and time again
they balanced love and discipline, play and chores, bedtime stories and nursery rhymes
They tried to teach us everything they learned as they juggled work and family time
V2
They were out of touch to a teenager, it seemed they couldn’t understand
Thought my friends knew more, learned my philosophy from the lyrics of my favorite band
They patiently waited until time, work and family steered me back on life’s winding road again
And I saw that their worries and sleepless nights just change focus but never end
Bridge
If I could go back in time, there are so many things I’d say:
When your struggles overwhelmed you, you never gave it away
I know you tried so hard, even when you failed, you smiled and kept hope alive
I am happy and whole, I am your legacy, and I hope you watch with pride"
V3
They were old and frail as the tides of time drew essence from their souls
So consumed was I in life’s mad fray, that I didn’t see its toll
And when time got short I didn’t see that train coming to take them home
Now I stagger still imperfect on the road they walked, hoping my footprints leave a path of my own

Safe space
Chorus
I don’t need no safe space baby; I’m country born and bred
I can drop a 8-point buck, 4 wheel a dried river bed
I stand proud on my own, with my family at my side
Ans the wind and the rain on my face make me feel alive
V1
When you hear words that you don’t like you run and hide in your room
In your safe space with milk and cookies; your social life is zoom
Give it up with your ogling eyes, we’ve nothing in common you see
I come from a much tougher stock, proud and strong and free
My ancestors chipped coal in Silesia, tin deep in Cornwall’s breast
Fought their way across the American plain in a wagon train bound west
Survived the parched dry outback as they opened up the stations
Did the backbreaking work of laborers in countless other nations
You stay inside when its cold out, winter’s wonders you abhor
Live vicariously through streaming shows, order take out to your door
You have over a thousand selfies all geotagged to home
You hide inside from the summer heat, tethered to your phone
Summer heat gives you a rash, and the sun can give you cancer
But shutting out life in your urban bastion is never a reasonable answer
The sound of a passing V8 makes you cry for mother earth
Lost without a purpose you question the purpose of your birth
Out there where I come from, we depend on one another
So, mate, I’m looking for a man, and you’re looking for a mother
Our country way is to use what we have for a practical resolution
You can’t count on your government to reach a good solution
Bridge
Come out of your shell, come out of your trance, embrace life in its wonder
You’re more than you know , toughen up that spine and make your life a story
How Do I Find A Woman
V1
I asked my Papa how do you choose a woman
There’s so many crazy ones out there that I am afraid I’d make a mistake
Son, it’s mostly by the grace of God, a bit of luck, and kind winds blowing through your door
But there are things you should look for, traps to skip, so let me tell you more
Chorus
Don’t be a parrot, falling for talk and fancy plumage
Don’t be a fish biting on that shiny lure
Don’t mount a fast mare, she will run for any rider
Don’t get a dumb one or your life will make your life a bore
V2
Son, my Papa said, “When you think you have found one
It’s time to test the waters, don’t run off all starry eyed and drifting on cloud 9
Do you like spending time together, besides that kissy kissy stuff
Does she challenge you to be better because a young man is a diamond in the rough”
Bridge
Is she kind to her parents
Are there children she’ll adore
Is she comfortable in jeans and boots planting like a farmer
Don’t get a princess needing a knight in shining armor
V3
Son, my Papa said, there is more I’ve got to tell you
Is she frugal with a dollar, can she save for a rainy day
Does she love you as much as you, I assume, love her deeply
Are you perfect for each other? Don’t count on changing the other in any way
End: Just find the love of your life

How Do I Find A Man
Verse 1.
When I was a young girl, the boys would taunt and tease me.
But now that I’m older, they just want to poke and squeeze me.
Give me a hint. Show me a sign. Give me a compass for direction.
How do I pick a partner for a life of friendship and affection?
Chorus.
Mama, Mama, Mama how can I choose a man?
Well, I think it’s in my DNA driving me to pick the best that I can.
That alpha male thing has lost its meaning.
Yet I don’t want a boy that still needs weaning.
Don’t want a loser, drunkard, chauvinist, philanderer, narcissist or bum.
Verse 2.
Daughter, don’t pick a politician, you need one that's honest and sweet
Does he fly the flag on the fourth, open the door or lift the seat
F150 or a Prius, is his dog smaller than a cat
Decorates with empty pizza boxes, hooked on daytime soaps, could you live with that?
Verse 3.
Does he have passion for life, can he show you deep affection
Does he laugh and make you laugh, capable of introspection
When you’re apart is there an emptiness, can he put his dreams into action?
Does he share his hopes and fears , he a keeper or distraction?
Bridge.
Do you share thoughts on raising a flock
In your weaker times can he be your rock
Does he know you’re not a precious flower.
Is he guided by a higher power.
Do you think that you can grow together.
Will you live your life without a tether
Will you embrace his imperfections?
And when the toll of time alters your complexions,
will you give a helping hand to each other.
Coda
Mama,Mama, Mama Help me with this one
Oh Mama, Oh Mama how can I choose a man

Hot Night in Miami
Well..Its raining hard in New York
And buffalo's solid snow
And the Midwest's in the grips of a deepest freeze
And the wind whips through Chicago
A cold rain pelts Seattle
And the 5 into LA has fog that’s low
And I'm sittin' here watching my weather map……
Is there any place I can go
CHORUS
Well, it’s a hot night in Miami
It’s a hot night on Biscayne Bay
And the music is a-blazing from Palm Beach to Marathon
And Key West goes its own way
Well there's dust storms down in Texas
And coastal flooding in Louisiana
A tornados reported on the Kansas Plains
And the beach is eroding in Savannah
And Denver is pummeled by golf ball hail
Closed the runway at DIA
And I’m sittin' here watching the weather channel
Is there any place I can stay
Well, it’s a hot night in Miami
Well, it’s a hot night in Miami
Well, it’s a hot night in Miami
Well, it’s a hot night in Miami

I Don’t Pray Anymore
V1
I take stock of my lifetime, in disbelief, I look around
it’s like a Hollywood movie and despite its ups and downs
no one could have scripted it better as we go from scene to scene
I truly have been blessed beyond my wildest dreams
Chorus
So I don’t pray anymore
Oh I don’t pray anymore
Theres so many that need you more than I know,
Give them my grace, unburden their souls
Give them my share, if things will change
Please hear my prayer
V2
I had taken so much for granted, a roof and walls that surround
Clean water to drink, heat from the cold, a bed to lay me down
more food than I could wish for, sometimes I’m bursting at the seams
I truly have been blessed beyond my wildest dreams
Bridge
It’s the joy you bring to those around
It’s the love you give till hearts about
it’s the charity to others
that will be a shining light
V3
Thankful that whisky, and gambling demons my name never called
In my life are friends and family who walk with me as I get old
My thoughts are free of dark clouds, and I walk in the light it seems
I truly have been blessed beyond my wildest dreams

The first thing I remember, I was running through the fields
With the dusty dirt between my toes, and the warm wind on my heels.
And the barn was warm and musty, and the river crisp and clear
My senses held firm to those memories buried deep for all those years
By the time day my father called us, he had the truck already packed
With my sobbing siblings we watched the house disappearing towards the back
And we headed for the industrial northeast, a promise of work was there
So we settled down in urban sprawl, New Jersey, if you care
CHORUS
Let the rain wash the levee down
Let the river overflow its banks and wash away this town
Let the water purify all the sin that lies within
Let the rain wash the levee down
A mere child of 4, I soon forgot, there was life before this place
Immersed in school, friends and family, every day was like a race
And I grew to be a young man, I worked hard and met success
But I never loved 'cause my heart was enchained, and I didn't know why
Who bids the Geese fly southward, who calls the Salmon from the sea
When my heart lay siege to my mind one day it was just such a mystery
But I always felt I didn’t belong here, So I got, I got into my car
And I prayed that I would know when I found my star
BRIDGE
At the pass into West Virginia, I stopped, the wonder befell my eyes
I climbed and stood on a craggy rock, and I watched the morning mist rise
The river was a silver ribbon, laying proud in the newborn sun
And I said in time, this land will be mine someday
So I settled in the valley, and I, I bought myself some land
And a local Girl who she stole my heart took my hand
Every morning I beat the sunrise, and I work until I see the stars
While our kids play king of the mountain on the ridge where the river levees are
Its been 90 days since the rain fell, and the crops blend with the sand
And there wont be money comin' in to pay the mortgage on the land
Now they could have postponed foreclosure, but a local developer paid more
And this wrongful deed was uncriticized and protected by the law
By the time I called my Children, I had the truck already packed
With my kids and wife I watched the house disappearing towards the back
We left as a storm was breaking, at the pass a torrent broke from the skies
And I stood on top of the craggy rock, and I watched the river rise

Island in the Field
V1
We left before the autumn wind convinced the leaves to fall
And a bristling breeze ripped through our reins like a lonely sirens call
Life’s destined change, we leave our safe and warm, and set out on our own
A couple’s fate, a new life calling us, a seed takes wing to plant and build a home
Chorus
And now were building an island in the field
It's a humble home in a sea of grass built with love that you can feel
It’s a classical example of how two can be as one
When you're building a castle in the sun
V2
The winter sun arcs low and short across the southern sky
And we chased it down toward Georgia where savannah grasslands lie
And there we stopped, 'twas shimmering grass as far as we could see
In the breeze, the verdant waves around us looked like, like an inland sea
Chorus
Bridge
A man and a woman we will raise our family
Someday they'll travel on their own, across the grassy sea
We'll marvel at their prowess though our heart walks out the door
Go with love, godspeed, the wheel turns round once more
V3
The clicking rails, the spinning wheels, the beating of the hoofs
Is a lullaby for highwaymen, but a family must plant roots
Call it wanderlust, call it destiny that beckoned us to roam
Cast off that spell, We turn the page, a family , a family needs a home
Chorus x 2

Beer with the Devil
I was sitting at a table nursing the last of the night
When the devil walks up, gave me a fright
He sits down without askin, and he steals himself a beer
Sees my puzzlement and says “I guess you wonder why I’m here
He looked so down I always pictured him laughing hysterically
In a trembling voice I asked him flat out, “are you here for me”
Shook his head no, and quietly said “I was cast out years ago”
To cast evil on the land, collect the souls, and stoke fires down below.
It seems to me, “Devil” I said, “you’re doing a bang up job”
“I was , but since they got free will, its getting kind of hard.
They choose their transgressions freely, and they revel in their sin
Then show up at the gate with their ticket already punched I’ve got to let them in”
Chorus
Don’t blame the devil ‘cause it’s free will
And without me evil is doing fine
If they keep their evil ways until the end of days,
I be hanging on the unemployment line
I maintain hell quite properly, beautiful fires and barren land
But your cities, they compete with me, and the crime is out of hand.
Ain’t had no sympathy since the rolling stones, and it’s getting harder each day
I feel that I’m not needed, and I think my old boss is starting to feel that way
Bridge
With free will they choose greed, With free will they stoke hate
With free will they chose murder, with free will they deceive
With free will they reign in freedom, with free will they enslave
With free will they cause pain and hurt and war far better than I conceive
Steal me a round , I looked at my empty bottle, and Ill tell you what I think.
Suddenly my beer was full , and a shot of whiskey too, and I lifted up my drink
“Devil” I said, I think your work is done. Perhaps it’s time to retire.
He said I’ll never rest, if I can’t cause harm at least I can inspire
He stood and sulked out giving me a wave, like he didn’t have a prayer
I can see him taking tickets at the gates of hell, like a carny at a fair
And I realized its always been up to free souls, and perhaps he wasn’t to blame all those years
And I exercised my free will when I walked out the door, and left the money for our beers
